The world of aviation is constantly evolving while technology and performance continually surpassing each other. In this article, we dive into 5 impressive aviation records that captivate the imagination.
1. The longest commercial passenger flight ever:

The record for the longest and farthest commercial flight belongs to Singapore Airlines. On November 9, 2020, the distance from New York JFK Airport to Singapore Changi Airport was 15 349 km. That’s the equivalent of more than 38 000 laps on an athletic track! This flight had a scheduled flight time of 18 hours and 50 minutes.
This exceptional flight was operated by an A350-900 ULR (Ultra Long Range). This type of aircraft is designed for ultra-long distances and offers passengers more comfort, making long flights more bearable.
2. Most passengers on a flight: 1088 people

The record for the most passengers on a single flight was set on May 24, 1991, during Operation Solomon. Thousands of people had to be evacuated, and several planes were deployed. An El Al Boeing 747 carried more than 1000 passengers on a single flight.
Specifically, the number ranged between 1088 and 1122 passengers. For this evacuation, the seats were removed from the Jumbo Jet to accommodate as many people as possible. Although the flight wasn’t comfortable, the priority was to save as many lives as possible.
3. Oldest commercial planes in service

When traveling by plane, there’s a very high chance that you're flying on a Boeing 737 or Airbus A320. These planes usually serve for about 20 years. Did you know that the oldest 737 still in service today is more than 50 years old? This plane, registered as C-GNLK, was delivered in 1974 and is still active in northern Canada.
Besides that, the oldest A320 is in service for 35 years. This aircraft, registered as JY-JAC, first flew in 1989 and is still flying today, mainly over Turkey.
4. Heaviest loaded aircraft ever: Antonov An-225 Mriya

The heaviest loaded aircraft ever was the Antonov An-225 Mriya. On a flight in 2004, this aircraft had a takeoff weight of 640 tons. In February 2022, the plane was destroyed by a Russian attack on Ukrainian soil.
The An-225 was the largest and heaviest aircraft ever built. With its impressive payload capacity, it was suitable for transporting super-heavy cargo, such as a space shuttle.
5. Largest fuel capacity in a passenger aircraft: 320 000 liters of kerosene

The aircraft with the largest fuel capacity is the A380-800, the largest commercial plane ever built. This aircraft can hold 320 000 liters of kerosene.
Additionally, this four-engine plane consumes an average of 10 liters of kerosene per second. In total, 254 aircraft of this type have been produced.
In summary
Aviation boasts many breathtaking records and exceptional achievements. From the longest flights to transporting incredibly large numbers of passengers, these records highlight the impressive capabilities of both aircraft and the people who fly them. As technology continues to evolve, new records will undoubtedly be set.
